Tomcat 100"

Here is an example of what I want to build, a Tomcat 100”. This Tomcat was used for racing in Competitive Safaris (known as Comp Safaris) with the all Wheel Drive Club (AWDC). This is what Drew Bowler developed the Tomcat for, the 100 inch wheelbase of the Range Rover being suitable for high speeds.

However after a few accidents and rolls, this Tomcat is being retired from competition (replaced by a Mattserati) and is going to be used for fun days instead.

This is what I want my Tomcat for. This Tomcat has had the panhard conversion on the rear axle which is good for driving at speed off road, but not for driving on road.

To make my Tomcat more practical (but maybe less capable in mud), I don’t think I will put the radiator in the back. Therefore I won’t want the roof duct. Here you can see the results of some serious rolls, including one end over end. However I was told that the space frame was still sound and unaffected by the heavy impacts.
